A 2013 observational study examined changes in various metabolic, cardiovascular, and bone markers in participants of a health program that included, among other things, TA-65®.
The so-called PattonProtocol-1 consisted of TA-65® as well as other dietary supplements, medical supervision, and regular laboratory tests. Since the study lacked a placebo control group, the observed changes cannot be definitively attributed to TA-65® alone.
How was the study designed?
The investigation was designed as a one-year observational study. It included more than 100 participants who took part in a medically supervised health program.
During the course of the study, measurements included fasting blood glucose, insulin, total and LDL cholesterol, blood pressure, homocysteine, and bone density. Because the program consisted of multiple components and there was no randomized placebo control group, the study cannot establish a clear cause-and-effect relationship for TA-65® alone.
What changes were observed?
Over the course of the study, statistically significant changes were observed in several parameters. These included, among others:
- Fasting blood glucose: decrease of 3.72 mg/dL
- Insulin: decrease of 1.32 mIU/mL
- Total cholesterol: decrease of 13.2 mg/dL
- LDL cholesterol: decrease of 11.8 mg/dL
- Systolic blood pressure: decrease of 17.3 mmHg
- Diastolic blood pressure: decrease of 4.2 mmHg
- Homocysteine: decrease of 3.6 µmol/L
- Spinal bone density: increase of 2 %
These changes were observed throughout the entire health program. However, due to the study design, it is not possible to determine which portion of the changes is attributable to TA-65®, other components of the program, or other influencing factors.
How should the results be interpreted?
The study provides interesting observational data on changes in various metabolic, cardiovascular, and bone markers within the framework of a combined health program.
Due to the lack of a placebo control group, the simultaneous use of other dietary supplements, and medical supervision, the observed changes cannot be definitively attributed to TA-65® alone.
Controlled, randomized studies would be required to independently investigate the potential effects of TA-65® on individual metabolic and cardiovascular parameters.
