TA-65® and Metabolic Syndrome: Results of a Clinical Study

A clinical study at the University of Connecticut examined TA-65® in individuals with metabolic syndrome. The focus was on whether taking TA-65® was associated with changes in various cardiometabolic markers.

What was investigated in the study?

The investigation was a crossover study involving 40 men and women aged 32 to 70 with metabolic syndrome. Participants received either TA-65® or the comparative treatment specified in the study design over a period of twelve weeks.

Various cardiometabolic parameters were examined, including blood pressure, blood lipids, and markers for inflammation and oxidative stress. The crossover design allowed participants to be assigned to different treatment phases over the course of the study and the results to be compared with one another.

What results were observed?

Compared to the placebo phase, a higher HDL cholesterol level as well as a lower BMI, waist circumference, and LDL/HDL ratio were observed during treatment with TA-65®. These differences were statistically significant (p < 0.05).

Furthermore, the plasma level of the inflammatory marker TNF-α was lower during the TA-65® phase (p < 0.05). The researchers also observed associations between changes in HDL cholesterol and various inflammatory markers.

At the same time, it is important that not all examined parameters of metabolic syndrome changed. The results should therefore not be understood as proof that TA-65® treats metabolic syndrome or prevents cardiovascular diseases.

However, the observed changes should not be understood as proof that TA-65® treats metabolic syndrome or prevents cardiovascular diseases.

How should the results be interpreted?

The study provides clinical data on TA-65® in people with metabolic syndrome. Due to the small sample size of 40 people and the limited study duration, the results should be interpreted with caution.

Larger and longer-term clinical studies are necessary to confirm the observed changes and to better assess their potential clinical significance.
